Lauren Barchi

Lauren Barchi, DMA

Dr. Lauren Barchi is a multifaceted music director, voice teacher, and educator dedicated to developing confident, expressive musical-theatre performers. She has worked as an adjunct professor at Long Island University and New York University. Lauren holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and an Artist Diploma in Opera from Rutgers University. She received her Master’s in Music in Vocal Performance and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. Her doctoral study examined the musical and cultural significance of mental-health representation in contemporary opera and musical theatre. Dr. Barchi’s ongoing research seeks to explore how performance can challenge stigma and foster social understanding. My additional research and creative scholarship explore the intersection of music with social and racial justice, with a particular focus on elevating the works of women composers.
